*Policies differ program to program. Please email info@heartwoodnatureprograms.org if you are unsure which of the policies listed below apply to the program you registered for.

 2021-2022 School Year September-June Programs

(Huckleberries, Blackberries, Salmonberries and Wildlings)

Payment:

  • Tuition for Salmonberries, Blackberries, and Huckleberries is $2070 per day of the week enrolled (so, if attending two days a week, tuition will be $4140, and so on). Tuition for Wildings is $2205.

  • Tuition is based on a September-June commitment and is divided into 9 payments.

  • The first payment of $230 Salmonberries, Blackberries, and Huckleberries ($245 for Wildings) is a nonrefundable deposit to hold your spot in the class, then there are 8 monthly payments billed on the 15th of each month, starting August 15th.

  • If a student joins partway through the school year, tuition will be prorated to reflect the month they begin attending classes.

  • The deposit is not transferable at any time.

  • There will be a 5% late fee for payments made after the 5th of the month.

Deposit:

  • There is a deposit required for each class day. This deposit is non-refundable.

  • If you sign up for one class per week, you will pay one deposit. If you sign up for two classes per week, you will pay two deposits. And so on.

  • Deposits are standard operating procedure for programs that offer development classes for children. A deposit functions to hold your space in each individual class day and is set up to ensure that only families that are truly ready to commit to the full year enroll, otherwise our program would potentially fill up with families that may drop at the last minute. It is difficult to fill spots that open due to last-minute or mid-year withdrawals.

Withdrawal, Cancellation, and Refunds:

  • To withdraw from the program or for a change in enrollment (such as reducing the number of days attending): Four full class weeks of notice is required, holidays are not included.

  • If you choose to withdraw early from a program prior to March 16th of the current school year, you will have one additional installment payment after the date of your four-class-week notice.

  • There are no refunds on tuition paid.

  • Heartwood is designed to be a year-long commitment to foster a deep sense of community and belonging. Our withdrawal, cancellation, credit, and refund policies are based on our investment in our staff and time spent on program design, planning, registration, teacher training, and equipment. These expenses are not fully recoverable even when we are able to fill spots that open due to cancellations.

  • Cancellations/withdrawals that take place after March are unlikely to be filled with new students. Late in the school year cancellations/withdrawals also prevent other families that were willing to commit to the full year from being able to participate.

  • Consideration is given to those withdrawing due to medical or other hardship reasons.

  • Heartwood is a non-profit organization with a mission to keep tuition as low as possible. Student turnover has a negative impact on the financial sustainability of our pricing model.

  • If any duration of a program is canceled by Heartwood: If we find it necessary to cancel due to inclement weather, unsafe conditions, or circumstances out of our control, we are unable to offer refunds.

School Year September-June Programs Trial Period:

  • Your child's adjustment is important to all of us. The first 2 weeks of enrollment are a trial period.

  • If you decide the program is not a good fit for your child, please email your request to withdraw to info@heartwoodnatureprograms.org within 2 weeks from the start date. We will offer you a refund for tuition paid less the non-refundable $230 ($245 for Wildings) deposit and less the prorated days.

  • If the teachers and program directors decide the program is not a good fit for your child within the first 2 weeks, we will email you and your child will be withdrawn from the program. We will refund your tuition paid less the non-refundable $230 ($245 for Wildings) deposit and less the prorated days.
