At Heartwood, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, play, and grow in nature. As a small local nonprofit, our goal is to make our outdoor classes and summer camps accessible to as many families in our community as possible.

Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and available seasonal funding.

How Our Scholarships Work

• Application Review: Applications received prior to open registration dates will be reviewed in advance so families know their award status before public enrollment begins. Once open registration is underway, applications are reviewed on a first-received, first-reviewed basis until our seasonal scholarship pool is filled.

• Program Limits: To help us support as many children as possible, scholarship awards cover up to two (2) camps or class sessions per child each operating season (Summer or School-Year).

• Confidential & Inclusive: We consider annual household income, qualification for state or district support programs (such as Free & Reduced Lunch or Apple Health), and extenuating family circumstances when reviewing requests.

Important Timeline & How to Apply

• Before Open Registration: To ensure you have the best selection of open camp spots or class schedules, please submit your scholarship application at least 10 business days prior to the public registration start date.

• After Open Registration Begins: Once public registration has opened, please allow us time to process incoming requests. If you submit an application after open registration begins and have not heard back from our team within 2 weeks, please feel free to reach out to us.

 

What You'll Need to Apply: Our quick online form will ask for basic family details and a single form of verifications such as your most recent W-2/Tax return OR proof of active enrollment in a state assistance program (e.g., Apple Health, SNAP/Basic Food, or Free/Reduced Price School Meals).
