Camp Wildwood Session Descriptions
Explore and connect outside at Camp Wildwood. By combining community-building with the playful exploration of forest and lake, our summer camp nurtures in children a sense of belonging in the natural world. Weekly themes are interwoven activities, throw in a healthy dose of friends, field games, yoga, mindfulness, free play, and crafts, and your child will have a summer camp experience to remember!

Week 1: Flora Explorers
June 22 - 26
Come forage with us and discover the bounty of the PNW forest. Make paint from berries and tea from stinging nettles. Learn to identify native plant species and their non-native competitors and how people use these resources for food, shelter, and fun! Add in field games, forest and lakeshore exploration, crafts, silly skits, and good camp fun, and you will have a week to remember!

Week 2: The World Above
June 29 - July 3
Campers look to the skies and explore the sun, clouds, rainbows, planets, and stars through hands‑on experiments and creative play. From making a cloud in a bottle to building sundials and mapping constellations, we explore how the world above connects to the world around us in fun and imaginative ways.

Week 3: Outdoor Skills for Outdoor Kids
July 6 - 10
Develop fun and valuable outdoor skills through games and hands‑on activities. Explore shelter building, knot tying, orienteering skills, map reading, outdoor survival techniques, and basic first aid. By the end of the week, campers gain confidence in the outdoors, strengthen teamwork, and discover that adventure is even more fun when you’re prepared.

Week 4: Creative Campers
July 13 - 17
Transform the outdoors into your art studio! Campers weave with nature, paint with mud, and craft self‑portraits from fir cones, lichen, and leaves. They explore ephemeral art in nature and make lasting projects to take home using watercolors, yarn, fabric, and simple supplies. By week’s end, each camper has a collection of unique, nature‑inspired creations, some to enjoy in the moment, and others to share with family or display at home.

Week 5: Nature Detectives
July 20 - 24
Who lives in this forest? How do you know? Learn how to find the signs of animal activity hidden in the forests, fields, and streams. We’ll discover animal tracks, scat, nests, burrows and so much more. Learn to read the signs of wildlife activity and piece together the stories of the creatures who call camp home.

Week 6: Nature is Theatre
July 27 - 31
Discover your creativity through games, skits, storytelling, movement, and music as campers explore imagination and teamwork. Whether you love cheering from the audience, being on stage, designing sets, or helping backstage, there’s a place for you. Together, we’ll bring a nature‑themed story to life and share it in a light‑hearted, end‑of‑week performance—created by campers, for campers.

Week 7: Engineers in Nature
August 3 - 7
Discover how nature’s greatest builders shape the world around us! Campers explore the engineering marvels of animals, trees, and rivers — from nests, burrows, dams, and webs to towering trunks and flowing waterways. Try your hand at creating shelters, weaving nests, building dams, and designing structures inspired by both wildlife and ecosystems. This week blends creativity with science as campers learn how animals, plants, and humans all act as designers and caretakers.

Week 8: Greatest Hits
August 10 - 13 (Mo - Th)
Join us for a week packed with all our favorite adventures! We’ll dive into shelter building, animal tracking, owl pellet dissections, hands‑on crafts, hiking explorations, peaceful nature sit spots, and games galore. It’s four days of outdoor fun, curiosity, and connection to wrap up the summer in the best way possible. Come play, explore, and soak up the sunshine with us!
